Goal Setting from Tony Robbins

Posted on Jan 30, 2011
The following series of goal setting questions are taken from my notes on a Tony Robbins program. Take 10-15 minutes reflecting on each question.
1. Make an inventory of your goals and dreams. What are the people, places, and things that you want to be part of your life? What do you want to achieve?
2.  How long will it take to reach each of the above goals?
3. Pick the 5 most important goals for this year. Write a paragraph for each one on WHY you will achieve them.
4. Review your 5 goals and ask yourself: Are they stated in the positive? Are they sensory specific? Is there an evidence procedure so that I will know when I’ve achieved them? Are they obtainable?
5. What resources do you have to reach my goals?
6. List 3-5 times in your life that you used your resources and abilities to be successful.
7. What kind of person must you become to reach these goals? Do you  need more discipline, more education, or a better attitude?
8. What prevents you from having the things you desire right now?
9. What are the necessary actions you need to perform consistently to reach your goals? Who can you model that has already achieved what you want? Start backwards. What must you need to do right before you achieve your goal? What before that? What can you do today to get started?
10. List 3-5 people who’ve achieved what you want. What are their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors? What advice would each give you in the pursuit of your goals? Enlarge and focus on pictures and images of what you want on a regular basis.
11. Create an ideal day. What people are involved? What would you do? Where would you go?
12. What’s the perfect environment, supplies, and support that you would need to achieve your goals? Take an inventory of what you already have that you’re thankful for and things you’ve already accomplished.
